Nannie & PopPop in NC too...

Nannie and Poppop got an early start for NC on Friday and got in just ahead of the worst of the winter weather. They came down to be there for Zoey's Baptism, so we got to have an early Christmas while they were in town. Here is Zoey opening some of her presents!
A little pair of running shoe socks...so cute!
A snuggly little lamb purse.

Just in Time for a Big NC Snow

Originally we had planned to make several stops on the way to NC, but after getting very little sleep in Gulfport we decided we might as well just press on. So we finally pulled into my parents place at 1am Friday morning. It was a good thing we decided to press on, we arrived just 10 hours ahead of a big winter storm. We probably had at least half a foot of snow that afternoon and evening, it put a wrench in some of our plans, but it was so beautiful to see. Zoey didn't have many really warm winter clothes, so her daddy was improvising with her blanket! I think she looks like a mini-pirate from Pirates of the Carribean.

My First Road Trip

December 16th daddy worked half a day and then we loaded up the car for the 1160 mile road trip to Grammy and Papa's house in Pfafftown, NC. We made it as far as Gulfport, Mississippi the first night. We stopped at a hotel there thinking we would catch a few winks, but Zoey had other plans which did not include sleep!! She did seem to enjoy the big bed in her first hotel room. Here she is hanging out while mom is getting ready to hit the road again.

My First Ear Infection

Two different nights over the past week Miss Zoey just wasn't herself. She would scream non-stop for hours, like she was in pain. Jay and I had no idea if she was sick, if it was her tummy, or what. But after a few stressful hours we would get her to sleep and then the next morning she would be happy as always. Since we were getting ready for the car trip from TX to NC, I called the nurse, who suggested I bring her in to have her ears checked just in case. When Dr. B came in, Zoey was cooing and just smiling at him. He said, this doesn't look like a sick baby, but lets take a look. Sure enough she had a virus with little sores on her throat and an ear infection. So we left with an anitbiotic and the hope of better nights to come. Poor girl!

Zoey's First School Project

Well, I was just happy that Zoey's daycare was keeping her fed, clean and safe, but apparently they also have fun and try to educate them as well. I was SOOO excited when I picked her up yesterday after daycare and received her very first project!! They took a photo of her in this Elf hat while she was sleeping...just that is totally cute. But then they pasted little green mittens on a big Red heart and put her little handprints on the mitten. Then below it all it says, "Cold Hands, Warm Heart". I was so proud!!After a long day at daycare, I got her all cleaned up and dressed for her first Christmas party. So here she was taking a nap before time to go to the party! She did really well at the party, but then when we got home, she screamed until she couldn't catch her breath and was bright red for 2 hours straight!! The only upside was that when I finally got her in bed around 11 pm, she slept until 7am!!

Just snuggling with Mom and Dad on a cold day

Sometimes when Zoey gets up really early, Mommy and Zoey play for a while and both get our baths and then we lay down for a nap and cuddle together. Maybe not a Mommy best practice, but a nice time to cuddle up for a nap.
Then Daddy comes to get us when he gets back from his morning run and he gets some snuggle time too!! A well rested, bright eyed little girl...and she LOVES her Daddy.

Did you say we are going shopping today Mom?! Well, lets get a move on!
So, does she look like her Daddy?

Hands? What are those?

Zoey has gotten much more interested in her hands lately. She puts them up next to the bottle when you are feeding her and is always clinching them and sticking them in her mouth. So I thought lets see if she can hold things. Well, clearly from this photo she can, but she also still doesn't realize she is holding them, or realize that they are there. So this was just entertainment for mom. I am probably the worst mom ever, but it made for a good laugh :-)She kept trying to get her hands back in her mouth, but she didn't understand that the toys were between her hand and her mouth. So I had to take the toys away before she whacked herself with them.
Finally, I found my hand!
While I was having a laugh at her expense I also had to put the little rattle booties on her...her Daddy said she looked like a clown, I just thought it was cute!

Play Time for Peanut

It is so amazing to watch our little one change every single day. She is getting much happier and more interactive. She loves to lay on her little actvity mat and to kick and play and she stares at herself in the little mirror which is strapped to the top. You will also notice her sweet little onesie. She is our little peanut and this outfit was a gift from her Aunt Jenni and Uncle Jeff and cousins Sera and Emma...too cute!

As always, great big smiles for my Daddy!

Zoey's First Snow!

After all the morning snuggling was over, Zoey got dressed up in her cozy little snow suit. It was passed onto us by Grammy's good friend Joanie and it came in so handy for Zoey's first snow. We went up to Sugarland for Daddy's doctor appointment and to do some shopping while we were there and Miss Zoey stayed warm and snuggly the whole time!
