Family Cookout at the Beach for Emma's Birthday

On Friday of our beach trip since Aunt Lo-Lo and Uncle Fuzzy had made it in and it was Emma's birthday, we decided to have a huge cookout.  We made potatoes, salad, beans, steak, fish, shrimp, scallops...it was a real feast.  And just check out the number of Chef's it took in the kitchen to make it all possible.

Then of course it took all the Johns men to man the grill.  At least we managed to cook this time without starting a grease fire!  

Zoey was hamming it up with the birthday girl and her new BFF Emma while dinner was cooking. 

 Here are a couple photos once we have all finished dinner and have moved onto Emma's birthday cake and presents.  It really was a great night.

Girls Having Fun on the Beach

This year was a FIRST!  We had one big family vacation at the beach and Zoey had an absolute blast with al her grandparents, all her aunts and uncles and cousins.  The only ones we were missing were Aunt Krissy and Papa Mike. On Sera's birthday we went out for a nice dinner at Icehouse in Swansboro and then we came back to the house for some family time.  Aunt Jenny and Cousin Emma went to the beach to play and we decided to join them.  Here are a few photos of the four ladies :-)

 

Family Photos with Christine Rucker

Christine Rucker is the lady that did our wedding photos.  We really loved the work she did capturing our special day, so we decided to have her do the same for some family moments of the three of us, before our three becomes 4!!  So we went out to Christine's farm in East Bend, NC and hiked the trail to the Yadkin River and took some candid photos just having fun, getting wet, playing in a field and picking peaches.  Here is a sampling.....

South Charleston Fair

This afternoon we decided to get out for a bit and check out the little fair in South Charleston.  Zoey was apprehensive of everything at first, but then we saw a little boy riding the pony and she decided if he could do it, so could she.  Once she got on it was hard to get her off, we even ended up going back for a second turn!  After the pony ride she got a little braver and tried out some of the other rides as well.
