La Jolla and Torrey Pines 5-7-14

After a very full day at LEGOLAND we thought we would take a down day and just do some sight seeing, so we started the day with a trip to La Jolla to see Seal Beach.   Well, at least most of us saw it...Karter napped most of the time we walked around, so Nana hung with him while we took Zoey down to see all the Seals and to play a bit on the beach.  The freezing cold water didn't seem to phase her.

Karter finally woke up and got in on the action with the family.

After some time at La Jolla then we decided to drive to Torrey Pines State park and at least look around.

Nana slipped on the rock and I caught this photo as she was giggling at herself before she could get up!

After we got home, we played at the pool for a bit and then Mommy and Daddy got cleaned up and went out for a date night back at La Jolla.  We had the most amazing meal at The Marine Room and an even better view!  The windows opened right onto the rocky coast.

Legoland CA 5-6-14

Without a doubt, Zoey's most favorite day was her day at LEGOLAND and she went hard all day long.  She took some coaxing initially to get her on some of the coasters, but once you did look out!  Mommy had to ride them, then daddy and in some cases Nana too!  here is Nana on the beetle bouncer with her.

Daddy and Zoey rode in the boats with the water guns and had a lot of fun trying to shoot mommy!

Daddy also got in on some time in the airplanes.

Mommy, Daddy and Zoey all got in on this family race.  You picked your vehicle and then you had to pump to make it move and then spray water at targets until they dropped.  The first team to finish WINS!  So you can see from the faces from below, the ultra competitive Johns family won :-)

Here we are on the way back to town for dinner....clearly the kids didn't make it very far which meant dinner was a bit miserable for the adults!  But all in all it was an awesome day!! The weather was perfect and a good time was had by all.

Day in the City 5-5-14

After a fun, but hot, day at the Zoo we decided to be a little slower paced today.  So we found a place called Richard Walker's Pancake House in San Diego and headed there for breakfast.  I would say that if we had one of these in Charleston I could see myself eating breakfast for every meal and weighing about 50 lbs more...it was AMAZING!  The kids were obviously enjoying themselves as well.

When we were using google maps to navigate to breakfast we noticed that the Children's Museum was just one block away.  So after we ate we walked around to kill a little time until the museum opened and then we had fun inside.  It was the best kids museum we have been to thus far.  Lots of hands on crafts, a big play area with monkey bars and ropes, little cars Karter was driving, bounce house, outdoor water fun and chicken's to meet!

San Diego Zoo 5-4-13

We spent our first full day in San Diego at the Zoo.  The Zoo was so BIG that you had to take little hopper buses to cover more ground, definitely a plus with little ones.  Here is a photo of a polar bear catching some rays.

When we first got there, we took a nice (but hot!) tour of the Zoo via a double decker bus.  Zoey wanted to sit on the top...so here we went!

Various other photos from our day at the Zoo.

San Diego, CA - Day 1, 5-3-14

Nana came to WV on Friday night and we got all our stuff packed and ready to go for a very early morning flight to San Diego!  We were supposed to fly out at 6am, so we got the kids up before we thought humanly possible and headed off to the airport, only to find out that our flight had been cancelled and we had not been notified.  So glad we got he kids up early for that.  After seeing the desperation in a mother's eyes, they were able to re-book us just two hours later and only getting us in an hour later than originally planned.  So it wasn't too bad.  Here are some photos of Karter's first time in the airport, first time on a plane and first time in a rental car bus!

We were staying in the Hilton on Mission Bay, so as soon as we got there, the kids wanted to go explore.  So after getting some time at the pool and a meal pool side, we walked out to the bay to enjoy the water and sand.
