Zoey's first Train Set
Nannie and Poppop left another gift for Zoey to open and play with on Christmas Eve, it was her very first train set. Of course Daddy had to put it together, but she did a really good job tracking the little train engine around the track.

WV Ladies make a trip to NC as well!
These WV ladies didn't let a little snow foil their plans to see little Zoey and her Mama. With the turnpike closed they weren't able to make it for the baptism, but they made a day trip to NC the following Tuesday. We had a ladies lunch (plus Jay!!) at Village Tavern and roamed around Reynolda Village before heading back to Grammy's to visit and eat dinner.
Here Miss Heather gets her hands on Zoey for the first time! Too Sweet!

Visit from the Fluharty's in NC
While we were in NC, the Fluharty's took the opportunity to drive down for a short visit while we were so close. Of course, the boys did the planning (that was our first mistake) and Jay thought they were coming on Monday evening, so we were a little surprised when they knocked on the door Sunday evening :-) But it all worked out perfectly, they were just in time to join us for a trip out to dinner! Here is a picture of the Motley Crew. Lisa, Rich, Me, Jay, Maggie, Connor and of course little Zoey!
Maggie loves to goof off with her Uncle Jay!

Zoey's Baptism
December 20th, 2009 Zoey was baptised at New Hope United Methodist Church in front of many friends and family. She was such a trooper during the service and the baptism. She was just looking around, taking it all in. It was a very special day for all of us. Her dress was made by her Grammy, with a matching blanket. She also had a special blanket her Nannie brought, it was the same blanket that was used by her Daddy, her Uncle Jeff and many of her cousins when they were baptised as well.
Here are Zoey and her great-great Aunt Sissy sharing a few laughs before getting her dressed for church.
Her Aunt Sissy ALWAYS makes her smile!
Mommy and Daddy carried her up to begin the service.
Handing Miss Zoey over to Preacher Pete
Good thing Mommy isn't very good at giving baths, so Zoey is used to having water just about everywhere, so a little sprinkle on the head was nothing for her.
Zoey is such a special little girl. So many people came to see her baptised, the front of the church was over flowing!

Preacher Pete and Zoey took a stroll around the church to share her with the congregation and she just took it all in.

Nannie & PopPop in NC too...
Just in Time for a Big NC Snow
Originally we had planned to make several stops on the way to NC, but after getting very little sleep in Gulfport we decided we might as well just press on. So we finally pulled into my parents place at 1am Friday morning. It was a good thing we decided to press on, we arrived just 10 hours ahead of a big winter storm. We probably had at least half a foot of snow that afternoon and evening, it put a wrench in some of our plans, but it was so beautiful to see. Zoey didn't have many really warm winter clothes, so her daddy was improvising with her blanket! I think she looks like a mini-pirate from Pirates of the Carribean.

My First Road Trip
December 16th daddy worked half a day and then we loaded up the car for the 1160 mile road trip to Grammy and Papa's house in Pfafftown, NC. We made it as far as Gulfport, Mississippi the first night. We stopped at a hotel there thinking we would catch a few winks, but Zoey had other plans which did not include sleep!! She did seem to enjoy the big bed in her first hotel room. Here she is hanging out while mom is getting ready to hit the road again.

My First Ear Infection
Two different nights over the past week Miss Zoey just wasn't herself. She would scream non-stop for hours, like she was in pain. Jay and I had no idea if she was sick, if it was her tummy, or what. But after a few stressful hours we would get her to sleep and then the next morning she would be happy as always. Since we were getting ready for the car trip from TX to NC, I called the nurse, who suggested I bring her in to have her ears checked just in case. When Dr. B came in, Zoey was cooing and just smiling at him. He said, this doesn't look like a sick baby, but lets take a look. Sure enough she had a virus with little sores on her throat and an ear infection. So we left with an anitbiotic and the hope of better nights to come. Poor girl!
