Karter's First Birthday 12-20-13

So we spent baby boy's first birthday at the doctor's office with everyone getting breathing treatments.  Both of my babies were feeling pretty rotten!

 

 

Then....we spent New Year's Eve in the ER.   When Karter got up this morning daddy was getting him dressed and called me into the room.  He had a big piece of wire sticking out of his leg and it wouldn't just pull out.  So off to the ER we went.  They x-rayed it and there was still like an inch under the skin.  The part that was sticking out broke off while we were getting the x-ray.  So to get it out they had to stick a huge needle in him to numb it and then lance it to pull it out.  Talk about tough on a mama!  The best we can figure is that

Random December Fun

So Karter has been walking for a little while, but he still hasn't gotten an opportunity to try out his footing outside, so here he is giving it a go with his daddy on the front side walk.

 Zoey and I made a homemade chocolate cake with cream cheese icing and peppermint on top for mommy's ladies dinner!  Yummy!

Karter's 1st Birthday Celebration with Nannie and Pop-Pop

Nannie and Pop-pop were here so we celebrated all the way around.  Christmas and this little man's 1st Birthday!

 

Baking Christmas Cookies 12-14-13

I guess we were feeling brave once we master the gingerbread house, so we decided to branch out into sugar cookies.  Not nearly as easy as Aunt Christi makes it look. I think Mommy didn't roll them quite thin enough, or uniform enough and the cutters we had made big cookies!  Oh yeah, and Mommy's frosting was a little too thick.  But we made it all work and in the end, that much sugar in one place can't taste bad!  We will definitely have to learn a little more before next year.  Nannie and Pop-pop are here for the weekend to celebrate Karter's Birthday and an early Christmas with us, so Nannie got in on the action as well.

 

Gingerbread Houses 12-13-13

This year we decided to do the entire gingerbread house from scratch!  So we borrowed Nona's pampered chef molds and we baked the gingerbread, hot glued it together (not nearly as easy as I had assumed!), made the frosting for decorating and then used all our treats to decorate the house! Here is Santa's little helper working on it with me!

Girls Trip to LA 12-5-13

Zoey and Mommy made another trip to LA to visit all our good friends in the south.  We flew into Baton Rouge and had lunch with Mr. Dave and Aunt Christi and then we drove down to Luling to see the Lyons family.  Miss Heather was still on maternity leave, so we hung out with her and William and then we went to surprise Maria and Isabella when we picked them up from school.   Isabella had cheer practice, so Mommy took Maria, Zoey and their babies for a walk!

 

 One night Aunt Christi came down to Luling for a ladies dinner and after dinner she took Zoey back to Baton rouge with her.  Then we spent a few days in Baton Rouge hanging with Ila, Ali, Arin and Mr. Dave.  We even all went to see Frozen together for the first time.  Clearly the girls went hard!

 An afternoon walk around the Loop in our neighborhood.  Karter is much more fond of the backpack than Zoey was...but boy was he heavy.
