Karter and the Spice Rack 6-27-14

Mommy was cooking and Karter was keeping me company.  I try to keep him out of most of the cabinets, but today was the first day he got into the spices. There were so many little things in there, you could just tell he was so excited to look at it all, pick it up, shake and inspect...so as they say, pick your battles.  It must have entertained him for 30 minutes and only took me 30 seconds to clean up!

Hey mom....did you know this is expired?  :-)  He is his father's son, so I am sure that is what he was thinking!

Chic Fil A Night 6-25-14

Daddy was out of town for work for a few day and mommy was beat and it was raining, so I decided we would go to Chic Fil A for dinner and then get some exercise in the play place.  Apparently, the Chic Fil A Cow had other plans.  Both of my kids are TERRIFIED of anything dressed up in head to toe costumes.  At first the cow was in the parking lot greeting people, so they settled down when we got inside.  But then the rain came in full force and the cow came inside!!  The cow at one point tried to approach our table.  I was trying to tell him to turn around and go the other way, but he didn't get my point until Karter let out a blood curdling scream...with Zoey not far behind.  Both kids were in tears, no one would eat....so I let Karter out of his chair and onto my lap and we tried taking some selfies to distract him.  It worked long enough to get him to eat a little bit.  And they turned out soooo cute!  I love his expressions.  Then I thought we had hit the jackpot b/c we had the play place to ourselves, but they were both too worried about the cow coming in the play place...so I resigned myself to defeat and we finally left.

Art Parade During Festivall 6-21-14

nana came for a visit and joined us for the Art Car Parade in downtown.  The kids loved watching the people dressed up coming down the street, but the people are stilts were definitely freaking them out!  Rachel, Ella, Evan and Emme even met up with us there!

Father's Day 6-15-14

Karter was trying out the loop wrist bands from our race and the finishers medal!  He loved the loot.  Nannie and Pop-pop had stayed with the kiddos while mommy and daddy were off playing in the woods.  Sunday was father's day, so we went out to brunch at First Watch with our special guys!

Ragnar Trail Relay - WV 6-14-14

So, the team was back together for a team trail relay in the beautiful mountains of WV.  But this year they convinced Mommy to join in on the action.  Sounded like a good idea until about 1 mile into my first leg.  We had a HORRIBLE storm right as Anthony, our first runner headed out.  Tents blew away and there were puddles that would swallow small children...so they put on a storm hold for about 2 hours and then the fun resumed.   I of course had the brilliant idea that it would be best to get the 6.7 mile loop over with early.  Little did I know it was more like rock climbing the first 3 miles than running and that the trail would be a swamp, or that it would be getting dark....there were moments in that run when I thought that I would rather be delivering a third child than running...but I survived.  It took me 1 hr and 45 minutes to cover the distance, but  I never fell, so that was an accomplishment. When I was done I swore I would never do this again, but after I ran my second leg the next day, during day light, the mud was hardening some and the course was much less technical, I decided I MAY be willing to give it another go...time will tell.

Our Team!  Kristi, Jon, Evie, John, Me, Jay, Anthony and Andy....a great group of people!
