Visitors from LA!! 8-30-2014

So, the Roberts family made the long voyage up from Baton Rouge, LA to spend the long holiday weekend with us and to be here for Zoey's 5th birthday before heading on to see their extended family across the mountain state.  On the way to dinner we stopped for Zoey and Ila to take a picture in front of the Weberwood sign since it was annoucing Zoey's birthday!!

Charleston Distance Run 2014 - 8-30-2014

Talk about a brutal run!  This was my third tie doing the distance run and it was also by far the warmest.  I think in the last three miles I resorted to taking ice to put under my head band and to dump in the back of my shirt.  I had also stopped sweating.  All that said, it was also my best time and I felt strong the entire race.  Here are a few photos from during and after!

Happy Hubby with Cast! 8-29-2014

As you can probably tell from the look on my hubby's face he was not happy!  We finally found an orthopedist in Morgantown that was willing to order an MRI, only to find out he had a stress fracture in his heel.  For that he was awarded this lovely cast for three weeks.  At least I suggested Hokie orange, he was going for plain old black...boo!

Chic Fil A Kind of Day 8-20-2014

Who knows why, but it was a chic fil a kind of day for me and the kids.  Mom was probably being lazy about dinner, so we had some chicken and then I treated the kids to a shared milk shake for the ride home.  Their looks say they were clearly pleased!

Sporting Mommy's Bling 8-16-2014

Mommy ran a very painful and hilly 5k this morning and the kids and daddy came to cheer me on.  Here they are sporting my bling in the car on the way home!  Thanks to my number 1 fans who don't realize mommy really isn't that fast :-)

Zoey's First Day of Kindergarten 8-11-2014

I can't believe my baby is starting Kindergarten, but off she went today and she looked so pretty and was so excited!  She wore her pretty dress from Aunt 10-10 and mommy dolled up here hair.  Mommy walked her into the room and the only thing that made her nervous was the mascot at the front door!  (We still don't like people dressed up in big furry costumes!!)  When I asked her at the end of the day for some of the highlights....they were not having to take a nap, riding the bus and chocolate milk at lunch!

Kindergarten Open House for Zoey at Weberwood 8-8-2014

Today was Zoey's open house for Kindergarten.  So after falling one day short of the cut off to start kindergarten (date is 9-1 and her birthday is 9-2) this year, she took the early entry test and rocked it!  Tested at 6.5 yr old level, so off she goes!!  Here are some photos of her with her Teacher Mrs. Asseff, at her desk, with her friend Addy and in front of her mailbox.  She was so excited!!

Girl's Day 8-6-2014

Today, Mommy was off and home with Zoey, so we invited Sadie to come spend a girl's day with us while Miss Diana worked.  After we got their matching outfits, flip flops and braids we headed out to pies n pints for lunch and then to the movie theater to see Planes!  They pretended to be sister's all day, and people thought they were twins.  We didn't correct them!!

Lyons' Birthday Party at Nona's House 8-2-14

As is the new tradition for late July or early August, Heather, Matt and their brood come to WV for a week of vacation and have a big shin dig celebrating all the August Birthdays....Isabella, Maria and Von.  And this year was no different!  The fun started as soon as the big trailer showed up carrying some horses.  We got to watch them brush the horses and aply fly spray, getting them ready for us to ride.  The fun continued when Miss Kelly showed up with her new Golden Puppy.  As everyone surely knows, my kids are TERRIFIED of dogs...much like they are the Chic Fil A cow :-)  But since this one was so small and timid and quiet, I guess they were intrigued.  They both got close enough to pet him and Zoey even picked him up!!  I thought maybe we have turned a page...that was until she ran screaming when she saw the other big dogs.  Oh well, small victories!!

Once the horses were ready, everyone climbed on board!  I was so proud of my girl.  She actually picked the bigger horse as the one she wanted to ride.  Maybe the fact that it was white made it less intimidating, but she saddled up and rode Luna twice.  You could tell at first she was trying not to look like she liked it, but eventually she gave up and had a HUGE smile on her face.

Before the big storms rolled in, the man put the adult saddle on and took mom for a stroll around the yard and then Karter joined me for a short ride.  He looked very anxious but he never cried or struggled to get down.  Love my little cowboys and Heather for setting up such an awesome party!!  We are truly blessed to have such special friends here that treat us more like family that friends :-)

Nona was nice enough to let me bathe the kids before I loaded them up for the 30 minute ride home.  I knew that if I didn't there would be no chance when we got home.  Sure enough, little man was OUT when we got home and Zoey was asleep about as soon as her head hit the pillow!
