Zoey's First Bath!

Seeing as this is my first time as a mom, I had to reference Baby 411 on the appropriate way to give out Little Peanut her first bath. I am sure it is one of those things that would be hard to mess up, some water and a little bit of soap. But for our sanity, we figured we should consult the book in an effort to make it as untraumatic as possible for little Zoey. While mom was working out the how-tos of newborn baby bathing, dad was hard at work assembling your little bathtub.
I am certain we made it much more complicated that it needed to be, but in the end you were clean! Although, even with all the preparation, you were still very unhappy with the entire process, once again exercising those big lungs!

Aunt Krissy got a hold of her clean little niece once you had calmed down a bit.
Wrapped up in your little hooded towel, all clean, calm and happy.

I am 5 Days Old

September 7th was Labor Day and today Miss Zoey marie Johns was 5 days old. Miss Julie came over and took some of the first photos of little Zoey since we brought her home from the hospital. Julie has such a special way of bringing out all the precious qualities of our beautiful little girl! Of course she also has a beautiful subject to work with :-)

Seeing my Nursery for the First Time

A beautiful cross from Aunt Sharon and Uncle Larry is on the wall in Zoey's nursery. Our good friend, the very talented Jenny, did the art work on the canvases in Zoey's room. I absolutely love them!!
Some more shots of Zoey's nursery....

Mom and dad (mostly dad), change the very first diaper in little Zoey's nursery.

Your dad is already an expert diaper changer! He takes very good care of both his ladies.

Of course Zoey doesn't necessarily see it that way, she just really hates having her diaper changed!! For such a tiny thing she has an amazing set of lungs!
"Team Johns", happy to be home!

Our 3 days in the Hospital...

Here are some photos of our 3 days in the hospital, adjusting to life as "Team Johns"! Zoey was quick to wrap dad around her little finger. We had several nurses in the hospital that over reacted a bit when Zoey spit up, or when she was a little cold, so by our second day, they had mommy and daddy a bundle of nerves! We were wondering what in the world we would do when we brought you home...but we are figuring it all out. I don't want to be burped mom, I just want some more food. You are starving me to death!!
Mommy trying to get the hang of this whole feeding thing, not as easy as everyone makes it seem at times.

Little Zoey in her bed on wheels
Full belly and ready for some shut eye
Definitely going to be daddy's little girl!

Team Johns!! Our first family photo...mom wishes she could crop herself out of it!

Uh oh Mom, time to eat!

Grandma Edwards and Auntie Krissy Arrive!!

After a bit of a detour around Houston after landing at the airport on Friday evening, Grandma and Aunt Krissy finally made it to the hospital to meet the newest Edwards Girl :-)

Aunt Krissy's first time to hold her very first niece, little Miss Zoey Marie. She was trying to corrupt you from the moment she first met you, telling you to be sure and call her anytime you are in trouble! She was also in charge for waking you up for your feedings...

And Grandma Edwards COULDN'T wait to get her hands on you either, the very first grandbaby, you won't be spoiled at all I am sure of it.

Zoey's First Trip to Mommy's Room and Daddy's First Diaper Change

After little Zoey was born, Mommy got to hold her for a few moments in the OR and then she was whisked away to the Staging Nursery while Mommy went to recovery. After spending what seemed like forever in recovery (like 3 hours!), Mommy finally got transferred to a room. After waiting another hour, Zoey made her debut in our room. Our first real visit as a family and dad's first of MANY diaper changes!

Announcing the Arrival of Zoey Marie Johns!!

Today we welcomed a new chapter in our lives. One as "Mommy" and "Daddy"! Zoey Marie Johns was born via c-section at Texas Woman's Hospital in Houston, Texas on September 2, 2009 at 1:42 pm in the afternoon. Our "Little Peanut" weighed 5 lbs 9 oz and was 19 1/4 inches long.

Here are some photos from the delivery room of Zoey as she gets her lungs cleaned out and ready to meet her mom for the first time!
